Albert Belle sentenced to three months in jail

PHOENIX -- Former major league player Albert Belle was sentenced to three months in jail and five years of supervised probation Thursday for stalking his ex-girlfriend. Belle, 39, pleaded guilty in July to one felony stalking count. He had initially been arrested and charged in February, and then rearrested May 17 at his Scottsdale home after he again contacted the victim.

In 1995, Belle became the first player in the history of the major leagues to hit 50 homers and 50 doubles in the same season: the last player to reach 40 in both those categories in a season was Willie Stargell in 1973. Albert Belle homered in the final at-bat of his major-league career on October 1, 2000. He retired at age 34 as a result of degenerative osteoarthritis in his hip.

After two seasons Belle retired because of degenerative osteoarthritist (arhtritst of thehips) . However he remained on the O's 40 man roster for the next three years (for insurance purposes) FYI degenerative osteoarthrist is the same reason why Bo Jackson retired|||OK, did somebody just speak ill of the big hurt! bastards.

The question is what didn't happen to Albert Belle. Didn't he throw a ball at a fan before he retired. The guy was unstable and from everything I heard he didn't do to much to help himself after he retired. He could hit like a motha though.|||Albert Belle left the Indains and played for the White Sox and Orioles before a Degenerative Hip Condition (Similar to Bo Jackson's hip injury) Caused him to retire... I think it was 99 or 00 I'm not 100% sure when he retired.|||Albert Belle actually went on to play with the Baltimore Orioles before being diagnosed with a degernerative knee condition that caused him to ultimately to retire.|||dont call me joey....|||Not sure, but he was a good ballplayer. I enjoyed him and collected his cards when it was cool to. I hope things worked out for him.|||I don't know, but that guy was sweet!

I think he went onto the Baltimore Orioles but then retired.
