After start the engine, switch the key from ON to the ACC position, then switch back to the ON again?

what is the current status of engine now after I switch back from ACC to ON position(the key is in ON position)? off or running?|||On every car I've owned, once you turn it to ACC, the engine shuts off. Turning back to ON does not start the engine back up.|||Key on engine off- KOEO|||The engine would not be running, as turning the key to the ACC position will stop the engine, and it will not start again unless the key is turned to start it again. Just because you turn your car off, then put the key in the "on" position, it doesn't mean you started it again.
