Thank you very much for your help|||you have to dispute the original item if it was identity theft and not your account to begin with. Write to BBB and tell them you are disputing item and they must show proof it is yours. Send letter return receipt. Send any info to Equifax Attn: Consumer Services, PO Box 740431, Atlanta, GA 30374 and to Experian Attn:Consumer Assistance PO Box 2002, Allen, TX 75013 and also to Transunion Attn: Consumer Assistance PO Box 1000 Chester, PA 19022|||Immediately put the charge into dispute. You need to do that by writing each of the 3 credit agencies and disputing the orignal debt, and the purchased debt. Copy Company BBB on all the letters, and tell them if they do not remove the credit statement from your files, you will bring suit against them in small claims court. If you can prove ID theft, they can not pursue nor report the debt.|||If you have proof of your claim to identity theft (police report, etc) get copies immediately to the three credit reporting agencies: TransUnion, Equifax and Experian and get copies to the AAA and BBB companies you are talking about with a letter explaining your situation. Those dings on your credit reports should not be there now, let alone waiting for them to drop off and delete. You should not have waited this long to resolve the problem.|||The previous answer is right. They will remove it for you if you can prove it was incorrect. I found it easier if you actually sign up with the three credit bureaus. It will cost you money, (less than $100), but, you actually get to talk to a person who is willing to help you. And they will do that pretty fast if you're their paying customer. I had one charge on a credit card (about $10), that I knew it was there, but, never got a bill for it because I moved and for whatever reason, the bill wasn't forwarded. After 6 months, I got a collection notice. I immediately called the company and the company had no idea what happened since they didn't have my file anymore. I called the collection company and they thought it wasn't worth pursing for $10 so they deleted the item. It took me a month or so after that to take care of negative items on my reports, but, my credit file became clean.|||It goes by the date of last activity on the account. In other words the last date you made a payment. They will start it from the date of delinquency that lead to the charge-off. If that happened in 2001, then it should come off in 2008 (7 years later).|||I am in the mortgage business and send all my clients with
Credit problems to this company, they really do a good job making bad things on your credit report go away.
